According to the Internal Rules of the Program:

Art. 30 § 5 – In order to draw up the necessary documentation to obtain their degree, students who have passed their Thesis or Dissertation defense will have a maximum period of two months, starting from the date of the defense, to hand in the definitive text of their Dissertation or Thesis, accompanied by their advisor’s opinion, for homologation of the result by the Postgraduate Committee (CPG).

Art. 32 Single paragraph – Students will be entitled to a Master’s degree in Sociology only after homologation of the corresponding documentation by the Postgraduate Council (CoPG). This documentation will be forwarded to the Postgraduate Council by the Program Coordination Office, within a maximum period of six months after the date of defense of the Dissertation, to ensure that the degree is awarded.

Art. 33 Single paragraph – Students will be entitled to a Ph.D. in Sociology only after homologation of the corresponding documentation by the Postgraduate Council (CoPG). This documentation will be forwarded to the Postgraduate Council by the Program Coordination Office, within a maximum period of six months after the date of defense of the Thesis, to ensure the degree is awarded.

The procedure for depositing theses and dissertations is as follows:

  1. The student must submit the final version of his/her thesis or dissertation, in digital format, together with the authorization for publication of the work in the Institutional Repository (IR) of the respective Postgraduate Program. The authorization form for publication of the work in the IR is available on the PPGS page on the Students Area > Forms tab.
  2. The student must attach the approval sheet duly signed by the members of the thesis examination board to the final version of the thesis or dissertation. The sheet must be requested from the Program through an email addressed to ppgs@ufscar.br.
  3. To insert the approval sheet, the student can follow the tutorial prepared by the UFSCar Community Library, according to the link: http://www.bco.ufscar.br/servicos-bco/producao-intelectual/tutorial-insercao-folha-aprovacao-teses-dissertacoes
  4. It is the responsibility of the student to submit the final version of the thesis or dissertation so that the Program can continue the process.
  5. Upon receipt of the final version, the Program will begin the process of including the work in the Institutional Repository as well as in the process of homologation of the Defense Report and homologation of the diploma by the Postgraduate Council (CoPG) of the Postgraduate Dean’s Office of the Federal University of São Carlos.
